Houston Inspector Achieves Level-II Certification as Infrared Thermographer
Houston, TX March 23, 2011 Chuck Evans, owner and founder of Houston Thermal Inspections, recently completed Infraspection Institute’s Level II Certified Infrared Thermographer® training course held in Mount Laurel, NJ. In successfully completing the course, Mr. Evans achieved his Level II certification for advanced thermographic applications and quantitative thermography.
Infraspection Institute, located in Burlington, New Jersey is the oldest independent infrared training and certification firm in the world. The course and certification covers radiometric theory and application of thermal imaging technology. This training and certification complies with the requirements for Level-II NDT personnel in the Thermal/Infrared Testing Method in accordance with the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) document, SNT-TC-1A. Evans is qualified to perform both qualitative and quantitative thermal imaging and analysis.
Infrared radiation is part of the electromagnetic spectrum along with x-rays, visible light and radio waves. It has a slightly longer wavelength than visible light but behaves similarly in many ways. One of the key differences is that we cannot see it without special detection equipment.
Infrared thermography utilizes specialized equipment to detect this infrared radiation and convert it to thermographic images and temperature measurements, which can be employed in a wide variety of applications ranging from medical diagnostics to industrial maintenance.
Evans says, “We are looking forward to offering our commercial clients additional infrared, non-destructive, testing services in support of their predictive maintenance, problem diagnosis, and cost reduction efforts.”
Jim Seffrin, Director of Infraspection added the following: “Although today’s modern infrared imagers are easier to use than ever, they still require a skilled operator to collect and analyze data. While Level I certification is a good start, it focuses on the qualitative aspects of thermography. Level II training is a must for thermographers seeking to provide accurate non-contact temperature measurements and understanding how to set temperature limits for operating equipment. We congratulate Chuck on reaching such an important milestone.”
