FLIR Introduces 2 NEW Infrared Cameras for Building Professionals
Boston, MA (February 15, 2006) FLIR Systems, Inc., the world leader in infrared (IR) cameras and technology, is proud to announce the addition of two new handheld models to its extensive line of thermal imagers the BCAM™, an easy-to-use, ultra-portable offering with an attractive price, and the ThermaCAM™ BX320, a robust high-resolution camera offering unsurpassed image clarity and detail. An informative video on the BCAM may be viewed at: https://www.flir.com//US/.
FLIR infrared cameras are revolutionizing the home inspection, restoration contracting, home and business energy auditing as well as other segments of the building diagnostics industry. These IR cameras are a powerful and noninvasive method to detect and document water intrusion into buildings, missing insulation, plumbing blockages and leaks, post-flood and fire water-damaged material assessment, and energy use inefficiency. The new BCAM and BX320 immediately reveal building problems that are easily missed with the naked eye, or by using traditional moisture probes and meters.
“Over the years, prices for IR cameras have come down, but have remained prohibitive for many building professionals,” explained John Keane, Director of Sales, FLIR Thermography Division. “Now, the introduction of the new and affordable BCAM thermal imager will revolutionize the industry and open up the marketplace – this is the solution which will lead new users to discover the power and convenience of infrared.”
The BCAM™ packs a lot of features along with its affordable price. Its rugged and lightweight body allows you to hold in your hand, clip to your belt, or place in your toolbox. Dust and splash proof, the BCAM™ meets IP 54 standards and withstands harsh industrial environments. A large 3.5² color LCD displays crisp thermal imagery with extreme sensitivity. The long-life Li-Ion battery assures uninterrupted inspections for up to 7 hours, and a built-in Laser LocatIR™ enables users to pinpoint problems with quick and precise accuracy, for the easy association of hot spots on the IR images with their actual physical targets. The on-board, flexible JPEG image storage allows images to be easily downloaded to a PC via included USB cable and QuickView™ software for inspection reporting.
The new BX320 infrared camera features a 320 x 240 high-resolution pixel arrays providing four times the resolution of many compact cameras on the market with standard 160 x 120 arrays. Plus, the BX320 boasts a built-in, one-touch digital zoom, to magnify targets without any loss of image clarity. Designed for the building industry, this offering has a built-in dew point alarm that identifies potential condensation areas where mold may occur with visible and audible alarm options.
“The introduction of these two new thermal imaging solutions addresses some very important application needs for our customer base,” explained Keane. “We¹re very excited about the resolution capabilities of the new BX320 allowing infrared users to see targets much more clearly and identify problems more easily with unsurpassed thermal accuracy. And the new BCAM offers solid value – combining good performance and unprecedented affordability.”
