IIBEC Approves Infraspection Drone Course for Continuing Education Hours
Raleigh, NC January 2, 2026 – The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) recently approved Infraspection Institute’s Level I sUAS Thermography Course for 20 Continuing Education Hours (CEH). Level I sUAS Thermography is one of several Infraspection Institute training courses approved by IIBEC for continuing education hours for its members.
Jim Seffrin, Director of Infraspection Institute, had this to say: “We are very pleased that IIBEC has once again recognized our training courses by assigning a significant number of Continuing Education Hours for Level I sUAS Thermography. Similar to our Level I and Level II thermography courses, IIBEC members can satisfy all of their annual CEH requirements with our sUAS course.”
sUAS Thermography is a 20-hour online course for the application of qualitative infrared imaging using a drone-based thermal imager. This course covers infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, equipment operation and selection, standards compliance, image analysis, and report generation.
Students are trained to identify and document thermal patterns caused by improper design, workmanship, or material failure. Specific applications include: electrical distribution systems, mechanical systems, steam systems, refractory systems, underground piping, active thermography, building envelopes, and flat roofs.
Jim Seffrin concluded by saying, “Thermal imaging drones have become a vital tool for assessing the condition of building envelopes and flat roofs. We look forward to supporting IIBEC members in the proper use of this technology in order that they may better serve their clients and increase their revenue potential.”
