16 Thermographers Earn Level I Certification
West Windsor, NJ October 27, 2025 – Sixteen thermographers from across the US, Greece, and South Africa recently completed the Level I Infraspection Institute Certified Infrared Thermographer® training course. This course covers infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, and imager operation as well as several applications for infrared imaging. The course was taught by Jim Seffrin, Director of Infraspection Institute and Infraspection Institute Master Thermographer™, Tom Frail.
At the conclusion of the course, Mr. Seffrin had this to say: “We very proud of our Level I graduates. These are folks that recognize that thermography is not a ‘simply point and shoot’ technology. Undertaking Level I training shows that they have made a commitment to learning how to use their infrared imagers properly and to ensure accurate diagnoses.”
Four days in length, the Level I Infraspection Institute Certified Infrared Thermographer® course focuses on the application of qualitative thermal imaging. The course covers infrared theory, heat transfer concepts, equipment operation and selection, standards compliance, image analysis, and report generation. Several applications are covered including electrical distribution systems, mechanical systems, building envelopes, and low-slope roofing systems.

Course attendee Billy Johnson described the course as, “Very informative and eye opening into all the possibilities in using thermography.” Equally impressed was Norman Johns who offered the following: “Well worth the time and money for the knowledge and expertise provided.” Nick Russo added, “Jim and Tom made the course fun and a lot easier to absorb the information.”
